On March 26, 2008 around 7:30 p.m., my cousin Ricky went to the Crab Shack at 30th and Lehigh for some seafood. While he was there, a man named Edward Parks noticed the chain he was wearing and decided to take it. Parks pulled a gun on my cousin in the parking lot outside and my cousin grabbed it and wrestled with him. Some shots were let off in the process.

A Philadelphia Police Officer named Shamaya Allen-Bullock arrived on the scene and saw the two fighting over the gun. She yelled for them to drop the gun and that’s where the story gets murky. Officer Allen-Bullock claimed that Parks let the gun go and backed away while my cousin grabbed it and aimed it at her, at which point she let off two rounds. A police Sergeant, a police Inspector, and an eye witness all said that my cousin and Parks never let go of the gun. My cousin was taken to Temple University Hospital where he died around 4:00 a.m. The case was taken to Federal Court and they sided with my cousin’s widow.

I went to 30th and Lehigh today around 7:00 p.m. today.

I tried to light the candle but the wind blew it out.
